Introduction:
Hey! I’m Brenda. I grew up in the surrounding area of Portland and graduated from Clackamas High School. A couple of years after graduation I married someone in the US Army and moved around quite a bit. We were stationed in Augusta, GA and then San Antonio, TX. After three years we moved back to GA to the Ranger BN in Savannah where we stayed for four years….so if I slip in a “y’all” now and then, that’s why! Then it was back to TX at Fort Hood. Over the years I worked as a retail store manager as well as a regional coordinator for the southwest for an exchange student organization. I’ve supervised over 32 high school students and have hosted six. While in TX prior to moving back to Oregon I was fortunate enough to work for Morale, Welfare and Recreation for the US Army as an account executive in marketing and advertising for five years. This was a great job that let me develop and create several programs for Soldiers and their family members. I worked with all the businesses on Fort Hood (practically a small city with over 170,000 people), organized events and activities, entertainment, sponsorship, wrote for two magazines on post and got to be involved in everything from children’s activities to Soldier’s Welcome Home Celebrations. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work especially with deployments. Since moving back to Oregon to be closer to family (my sister, her husband and my three little nieces in Sunriver) I decided to take the time to go back to college and get my degree. Thus far it has been a lot of fun! Central OR is a bit cold for me, but I’m getting used to it. As the Event Coordinator for ASCOCC I’m always interested in what students want, don’t want and what works for events on this campus. I’d love to hear your suggestion!
